| Makunaima - building style from the
ancient ones
Water-resistant
surfaces - not easy to achieve... A lot of elaborate techniques
are needed to make it work. A good foundation is important. A really
tight and well-flattened clay plaster is used. Finally, it is all
oiled and varnished like a good painting....Now the rain can come.
Opposite is 'dragonboat',
one of our sculptures- without good foundation
of course ...so actually replaced by a wooden version of it.
The clay village changes its
shape from time to time ... another reason to see it, if you stay
in Berlin during summer month - our space may be a good alternative
towards all the stressful maistream places of local tourism.
Every summer we gather from different cities
and built a family-like team.

Earthen huts and sculptures
Here we designed a roof,
similar to that which you will find in the southern hemisphere,
especially in Africa or in the Caribbean. Tiny sticks of bamboo
were used for the roof. Inside the hut children can sit on round
benches and take shelter from the rain, or just play happy families.
Meanwhile we shape the roofs with wooden building materials - because
thatch burns!
Last but not least, we have
a feast. Our annual party at Britzer is a really fine event, with
live music from Africa! The Ghanian combo "Africa Mma"
drives everyone going crazy!
